Bernard has not one but three fiancées – one Italian, one German and one American – all airline hostesses who frequently fly through Paris to see him. Bernard’s life is humorously thrown off-course when (un)lucky scheduling lands all three women in Paris on the same day. You won’t want to miss the hilarity that ensues.

Sheira Stein*, Amanda Huxtable* and Kim Morgan Dean* portray airline hostesses–all of whom are engaged to suave Frenchman Bernard. (* denotes membership in Actors’ Equity Association.)

This show brings new talent to Lewisburg, both on the stage and behind the scenes, including Guest Director Quin Gresham.

“The antics of Boeing Boeing make it one of the funniest farces around. Bernard, an American living in Paris, is engaged in triplicate to international airline hostesses and I think I can safely say that multitasking has never been so outrageously funny,” said Gresham. “Add a dull-witted friend and a surly French maid…trust me, this is the perfect recipe for big laughs. Cathey Sawyer has assembled a terrific group of actors. If audiences have half as much fun as we’re having, this will be a production to remember.”

Gresham is the Producing Artistic Director for Missouri’s Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre. He has directed productions of Death of a Salesman, The Music Man, Cabaret, The Glass Menagerie, West Side Story and Into the Woods. His work has been seen at The Riverside Theatre, The Texas Shakespeare Festival, Totem Pole Playhouse and The National Arts Club.

Joe Lehman returns to GVT’s stage as the “dull-witted friend” Robert. He most recently appeared at GVT in It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show and Dracula: A Rock Opera.  He has also been seen in The Importance of Being Earnest, Life Could Be a Dream and Run For Your Wife.

Boeing Boeing is very much a classic farce which I think is one of the most difficult forms of comedy to do well.  Absolutely absurd actions have to seem completely natural and as fully motivated as in any drama. There must be room for sweetness, silliness and seriousness for it to be truly effective, but when all those elements align the result is among the most hilarious types of theatre you can do. Plus, I get to play the friend who tries to ‘help’ the leading man out of his troubles, the funniest role in any farce,” Lehman said.

Lehman’s first show with GVT was in 2005, and he has been a regular guest since. He feels very fortunate to be able to return to GVT, and Lewisburg, on such a regular basis, because “The work done here is truly top notch.”

This is one comedy you’ll want to keep in mind when planning your May. Boeing Boeing runs May 8 & 9, 14-16 and 20-23 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on May 9 at 2:30 p.m. and a Pay-What-You-Can Preview May 7 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $27 for general admission, $24 for seniors and $20 for children/students. For tickets or more information, contact GVT’s Box Office at 304-645-3838 or reserve your seats online.

Two people meet in a cage and find their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes and faux pas on the way to falling in love. “Variations on the Death of Trotsky” shows us the Russian revolutionary on the day of his demise, trying to cope with the axe he found in his head.
